Warriorhood was composed in the corrective Warrior spirit of Ma’at. It contains nearly 40 years of writings by a frontline Elder which give sound warnings against compromise and misdirection when a Warrior should be righteously enraged, definitions crafted for minds which need clarity about the irreconcilable differences standing between us and our sworn enemies, interpretations of ourstory and history so that these two realities can be more easily recognizable as social and cultural creations with political agendas and commonsensical explanations designed to remove any meaningless debate over where we need to go and what we need to do to get there.

The idea of providing the best possible thinking and hands-on tools by which our youth can elevate themselves into their higher mind, and the more advanced responsibilities which accompany it, should be the central reason for providing rites of passage programs for them. These programs should be specifically designed and conducted in such a mentally disciplining way that clarity is brought into the minds of the Warriors-in-Training in terms of their potential and an awareness of the depth of the accountability they should naturally hold for their people. They should provide them with an understanding of the limitlessness of their power, their spiritual responsibility to rise as high as possible within it and the responsibility to use that power strictly in service to Afrikan people.

We need Warriors whose hearts and character are ruled by Ma’at, whose souls find peace in being of Spirit, who rise without concern for consequences when all sanity appears lost, who are compelled by their Ancestors, community and those yet to come to apply their righteous rage in service against any who would destroy them, and who live their lives to empower their people. We need Warriors who are wise and humble enough to know to call on their Ancestors to assist them as they bring their power to bear in correcting what is wrong and strengthening what is right. It is out of this desire to assist Warriors in healing through identifying and refining the best of who we are that Higher Ground was written. It is designed to offer a deeper, more centered insight into the mind, character and spiritual connection this kind of person needs to heal into in order to be an exemplary model of service to our people.

Identity

Identity is a sociological examination of who we are, and who we should be, in this world, through an Afrikan centered lens. In order to correctly progress, it is critically important to be familiar with the concepts identifying vital social phenomena as they directly relate to us as individuals and groups. Definitions are central to any intelligent, worthwhile explanation of society and how it works, especially as they relate to those who live in it without a clear, self-given, collective identity, but who still recognize the need to empower themselves. And conceptual insights which clarify aspects of our social existence like spirit, nation, culture, worldview, civilization, socialization, community, family and ethics provide exceptional foundations for thinkers working to build such power. Forming these definitions for this purpose is the intent of Identity.

Each day, Warriors need words that give them cause to consider the significance of what they must do. Each day, dedicated revolutionaries must articulate and refine the nature of their service to Afrikan people. Each day, centered workers deserve to have their thoughts recognized and their intent validated by minds of like spirit. Each day, those who live, and would die, for us should be reminded that they will never be alone and that their thoughts are those of every other member of the warrior class, seasoned, Elder Warriors and most deserving and honored Ancestors. They will find the substance of these affirmations here, in this calendar, every day.

Common Sense Security

We cannot pretend that we live in a safe reality, at least not at the same time we are claiming to truly be sane. Our homes, workplaces, streets, events, yards and persons will all remain places which can be easily violated as long as we do not take commonsensical precautions to protect them from danger. Without the security that knowledgeable preparedness brings, uncertainty and fear will continue to rule our existence to some degree or another. Uncertainty and fear, and the stress which comes as a result of it, must be reduced in order for us to live as decent, happy, thriving human beings. And, again, this reduction will require action on our part. It can only come through us consciously applying those practical tools and methods in our lives which leave us more secure and comfortable in whatever surroundings we find ourselves. This book offers a collection of interrelated suggestions which apply common sense responses to pressing security concerns. It provides a framework of ideas out of which we can build more secure spaces for ourselves and our loved ones.

Prayers of Gratitude

From beginning to end, this writing is a Warrior’s affirmation. Affirmations are critical to our development as persons with purpose because they give our mind instruction. They initiate and support the subconscious activity which assists us in elevating our thoughts, refining our focus and vision so that we can make higher moral and ethical decisions and stand as the Warriors we are. They should be viewed as spiritual declarations and aspirations. Accepting that all of our thoughts constitute one ongoing prayer, you can even call this book, in its entirety, a prayer if you like. Know that there is nothing wrong with the word pray, just in the behaviors it is too often associated with relative to the pacification of the Warrior spirit, particularly among Afrikan men and boys in western society. With this in mind, each individual statement of gratitude can be looked upon as an individual prayer, meditation or affirmation.
